# Tracked vs. Calculated Calories

You may notice that the calorie numbers in Apotheo don't exactly match what your nutrition tracking app shows. This is normal and nothing to worry about.

## Why the Numbers Differ

Nutrition apps like MyFitnessPal display **tracked calories** — the calorie values from food labels and database entries. These are often rounded numbers.

Apotheo displays **calculated calories** — calories computed from your tracked macros using standard conversion factors:

- 1g Protein = 4 calories
- 1g Carbohydrate = 4 calories
- 1g Fat = 9 calories
- 1g Alcohol = 7 calories

Because food label calories are rounded, the tracked and calculated values rarely match exactly.

## Which One Is Correct?

Both are valid — they're just calculated differently. The important thing is consistency. Your coach can view both values in your check-in and understands the difference.

If you're hitting your macro targets, you're automatically hitting your calorie target. Focus on the macros rather than the calorie number.
