Setting Up a Custom URL
Setting Up a Custom URL
By default, your clients access your portal at an Apotheo URL. You can replace this with a custom URL like clients.yourdomain.com so your portal feels like part of your brand.
Overview
Setting up a custom URL involves two steps:
- Add a DNS record with your domain provider
- Contact Apotheo support to complete the configuration
Step 1: Add a CNAME Record
Log in to your domain provider's DNS settings and add a CNAME record with the following values:
Field | Value |
|---|---|
Type | CNAME |
Host / Name | |
Points to / Value |
This tells browsers that clients.yourdomain.com should point to Apotheo's servers.
Note: DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to propagate, though most providers update within minutes.
Step 2: Contact Support
After adding the CNAME record, email support@apotheo.com with:
- Your custom URL (e.g.
clients.yourdomain.com) - Your Apotheo account email
We'll configure SSL and link the domain to your account.
Provider-Specific Instructions
GoDaddy
See GoDaddy's CNAME help page.
Squarespace
See Squarespace's custom DNS records guide.
Bluehost
See Bluehost's CNAME help page. Enter clients as the host record and app.apotheo.com as the target.
Wix
See Wix's CNAME records guide.
Other Providers
The process is similar across providers. Look for DNS settings, DNS records, or Domain management in your provider's dashboard and add a CNAME record as described above.
Troubleshooting
- URL not working after adding the record — DNS propagation can take up to 24 hours. If it's still not working after that, double-check the CNAME values.
- SSL certificate errors — make sure you've contacted support so we can provision an SSL certificate for your domain.
- Subdomain already in use — if
clientsis taken, you can use any subdomain (e.g.portal,app,coaching).
